Beneath its tranquil beauty lies a region shaped by centuries of creativity, faith, and human endeavor — from Roman builders and medieval pontiffs to modern masters of art and expression. It’s time to journey through the landscapes, legends, and living traditions that embody the very soul of France.

Join New York Adventure Club for a three-part series through Provence, where art, history, and daily life intertwine across France's most storied cities. In Part One: Arles, we’ll explore a city that has stood at the crossroads of empire, faith, and creativity for over two millennia.

Led by tour guide Kelsey Betzelberger, this experience — featuring plenty of firsthand photo and video walkthroughs, intriguing anecdotes, and expert insights — will include:

• A look at Roman Arles — the city’s impressive amphitheater and ancient theater, where gladiators once fought and civic spectacles shaped public life
• An overview of medieval Arles — the cloisters and chapels of Saint-Trophime, a Romanesque masterpiece along the pilgrimage route to Santiago de Compostela
• A discussion of van Gogh’s Arles — the landscapes, cafés, and riverside views that inspired some of his most celebrated works
• Insights into Provençal life — how local markets, olive oil, and lavender traditions preserve the rhythms of southern French culture
• A glimpse of living heritage — Arles’ festivals, costumes, and rituals that continue to blend Roman, medieval, and modern influences
