Join New York Adventure Club for a captivating nine-part series exploring the rich traditions, stunning landscapes, and artistic spirit of Switzerland. In Part Nine: Basel, we’ll cap off our journey in Switzerland’s cultural capital — a city that fuses historical charm with a bold, contemporary creative edge.
Led by tour guide Kelsey Betzelberger, this experience — featuring plenty of firsthand photo and video walkthroughs, intriguing anecdotes, and expert insights — will include:
- Basel Minster & Tinguely Fountain — A look at the city’s architectural contrasts, from its grand Gothic cathedral to Jean Tinguely’s playful kinetic fountain in the heart of town
- Jean Tinguely & Hans Huber — A celebration of two of Basel’s creative giants — Tinguely, the trailblazing sculptor, and Huber, a composer whose romantic symphonies helped define Swiss classical music
- Basler Läckerli & Fasnachtskiechli — A taste of Basel’s signature spiced biscuits and festive sweets that are staples of the local carnival season
- Basel Fasnacht & Guggenmusik — An inside look at Switzerland’s most famous carnival, where masked musicians and brass bands take over the city in a whirlwind of sound and spectacle
- Folk Dance & Modern Swiss Music — A closing reflection on Basel’s role in shaping Swiss cultural life through both traditional folk performances and modern musical innovation
