Around the day of November 1st, across different cultures it is believed and felt that it is a time when the boundary between the physical and spiritual realms is at its most permeable. This thinning of the veil between the two worlds makes it a special time to honor those who have passed.
From the ancient Celtic celebration of Samhain (pronounced Saa-wn), to the Latin American celebration of Día de Los Muertos, each with thousands of years of history, this is a sacred time to give thanks, respect, and honor to those who have come before us.
Join us in community and Ceremony as we sit among a candlelit altar to slow down, go inward, connect, reflect, and express our gratitude to our loved ones passed during this special time. It is encouraged to bring photos, or special items, of your loved ones passed who you will be sitting to honor to place on the altar during our Ceremony. Starting off the Ceremony there will be a guided reflection for participants to focus their intention, a quiet time to sit with ourselves, our passed loved ones, our memmories of them, with soft music in the background.
We will then be guided into our walking meditaiton (45 min to and hour) where participants will be instructed to walk backwards, slowly, in a counter clock-wise direction around the altar, as we walk back through time and our ancestors journeys. Arriving at the beggining of human history, you will be instructed to pause, then to begin to walk forward. As you begin to walk forward through the ancestors journey of evolution you will harvest their gifts they have left for you along the way- from the strength of endurance during adversity, to the wisdom of the times when we studied the stars, and everything in betweem. Our intention is to reconnect with and remember the power that we each hold within our bones and blood of the lived experiences of those who have come before us, and express our love and eternal gratitude for and to them.
We will then close Ceremony through a group reflection and time of stillness followed by time for community connection.
