This training will seek to increase participants understanding of the intersect of trauma and substance use/substance use disorder.

About this Event

Presentation: Trauma informed practice implies a working knowledge of not only what signs and symptoms exist with trauma but also, how trauma impacts brain function, coping, and patient well-being. This session will cover the basics of post-traumatic stress with special focus on the intersect of substance use/Substance Use Disorders. Critical considerations when engaging and providing services will be explored. As a result of attending this training, participants will be able to:

  • Describe the neurobiology of trauma.
  • Recognize the impact of trauma(s) on coping.
  • Explain the intersect between trauma and substance use/ Substance use Disorders.
  • Identify critical strategies when working from trauma perspective.

Presenter: Dr. Tana Bridge is a professor of Social Work at Eastern Michigan University. She is recognized for her passion, expertise, and skills in engagement. She has a 25-year track record of excellence in teaching, service, and professional consulting. Dr. Bridge’s expertise in trauma, ethical practice and collaboration are common threads in all areas of engagement. She currently serves on many local and state-wide committees. She is licensed in both clinical and macro practice. Dr. Bridge has several awards and advanced certifications.

Where: Virtual Training. Zoom link will be sent out the week of the training to registered participants.

Who Should Attend? Hospital staff from all disciplines in New Hampshire hospitals who are interested in learning more about substance use/opioid use disorders.
