Event description

Description

Stephen Danley talks about his book, A Neighborhood Politics of Last Resort: Post-Katrina New Orleans. The book follows New Orleans activists in their efforts to rebuild their communities after the devastating flood while also examining the dark underbelly of NIMBYism ("not in my backyard"), characterized by racism and classism.

Danley is an associate professor of public policy and administration at Rutgers-Camden University. He founded and authors the Local Knowledge Blog, which has been featured in Next City magazine, the Philadelphia Inquirer, and Philly Magazine. The blog highlights local voice and local issues, particularly in Camden, NJ

This program is part of a series of author talks in connection with the exhibition, A Right To The City. It was developed in partnership with American University, Metropolitan Policy Center.

REGISTRATION DOES NOT GUARANTEE A SEAT. SEATING IS ALWAYS AVAILABLE ON A FIRST-COME, FIRST-SERVED BASIS.
