A Public Records Workshop from The Lens

Join The Lens for a public records workshop on Dec. 3, 2025.

Reporters don't have any special privilege when it comes to public records requests — but we do have time and expertise. Lens reporters are eager to share our tips and tricks for accessing public records from government agencies. 

The workshop will provide a broad overview of Louisiana sunshine laws, with a specific focus on requesting and accessing education data and records. Our guest speaker, Sara Godchaux, a Clinic Professor, Disability Justice Clinic housed in Loyola Law Clinic, has a background in education law. She will provide additional information on how parents can access their children’s education records and records related to special education.
