Join us to learn how conservationists are helping one of the UK’s rarest butterflies make a comeback on our own doorstep.

Once common across the UK, the Marsh Fritillary butterfly is now threatened across Europe making the Welsh populations increasingly important to conserve. This beautiful butterfly could be spotted on Llantrisant Common until the 1990s then sadly became locally extinct there.

Rob Parry, CEO of Initiative for Nature Conservation Cymru (INCC) will talk us through how and why this iconic species was reintroduced to the Common in 2021, and how the butterflies are getting on there now. We will also get a chance to learn about some of INCC’s other amazing work to help nature across Wales.

A Pint of Nature is a series of nature and environment-themed talks held periodically at the Pontylcun Athletics Club, organised by the Pontyclun Environment Group. We hope you enjoy a casual and informative evening alongside your favourite beverage from the bar!
