A Nonpartisan Political Conversation with Thad Kousser

A Nonpartisan Political Conversation with Thad Kousser

Overview

UCSD Political Science Professor Thad Kousser will discuss nonpartisanship in the 2026 election year

In a time when our national political life is increasingly hyper-partisan, the League of Women Voters is a nonpartisan organization. What is the role for the LWV in this context?  What are the needs in 2026 as we move towards a major November election?  How can we promote productive local and national conversation?

On January 21, 2026 at 5:30pm, we will have a LWV dinner at Elijah’s and hear discussion on this topic from Thad Kousser, a well-known Professor of Political Science at UCSD since 2003 who studies American state and national politics, voting reforms, direct democracy, and how politicians use social media.

Thad is now co-Director of UC San Diego’s Yankelovich Center for Social Science Research which is dedicated to crafting practical solutions to our nation’s most pressing social problems. He has also recently received a grant to address the problems with trust in American elections.

Join us for dinner and time together as LWVSD members as we begin a new calendar year. The cost for dinner will be $35.

Registration will close on Sunday, January 18, 2026 at 8pm.
