We will gather on undisclosed farm land, a space that grounds us in the Adinkra codes; Sankofa and Denkyem, meaning go back and get it, adaptability and cleverness. We will explore Sankofa through a feast, sourced from farmers all over AfroCarolina, as we hear stories of liberation, land and place.

Workshops on seed and survival will be followed by a special farm tour during the solstice sunset. When the sun goes down, we juke! Games, dancing and gathering around the bond fire will equip guests with reminders that we have everything we need to thrive. as our foremother and ancestor, Gwendolyn Brooks famously said “we are each other’s harvest”.

Ticket sales will go towards the Woodard’s Garage restoration project, a historic Black owned mechanic shop in central North Carolina that is being preserved and converted into a cooperate workshop and lab that centers culture work across mediums. Learn more and support here.
