A Hike on Shaky Ground
Overview
We'll "strike-slip" our way along the Fault, Franciscan, and Lost Creek Trails. Our route passes the fence that jumped several feet during the 1906 earthquake. For the botanically inclined, we'll see four different species of oak trees and pass a plethora of ferns and fungi. We'll also see the one native plant that retains the name the indigenous people gave it. (Hint: It's the official city shrub of Los Angeles!)
TOTAL DISTANCE
This is a moderate hike of about 3 to 4 miles with about 700 feet in elevation change. There are a few steep sections.
