About this event

  • Event lasts 1 hour

Nine countries in the world possess nuclear weapons—four of which are engaged in ongoing or recent conflicts. Compounded with technological progress, geoolitical crises have only increased the risk of nuclear weapon deployment, causing mass fear and anxiety.

Ward Hayes Wilson, Executive Director of RealistRevolt and author of It is Possible: A Future Without Nuclear Weapons, lays out a pragmatic pathway to abandon nuclear weapons and challenges the conventional reliance on the technology. In his book, Wilson explores key issues in the nuclear weapon debate, from the political failures of the anti-nuclear movement to the unproven efficacy of the weapons themselves.

Endorsed by world leaders, military officers, physicists, UN officials, Nobel Peace Prize winners, scholars, activists, and others, It Is Possible presents a dramatic new argument and an entirely new approach.

This conversation between Ward Wilson and Stimson Center co-founder Barry Blechman will seek to answer a fundamental question: Is a future without nuclear weapons still possible – and if so, how do we get there?

Lunch will be provided at the event.
