A Day of Community

By National Portrait Gallery

Overview

Honor Dr. Martin Luther King and his commitment to love and service by joining the Portrait Gallery and our partners for A Day of Community.

What does community mean to you? How do you connect and show care? Celebrate compassion and connection! Discover ways to nurture hope, strengthen community bonds, and take care of yourself and others. Art reflects empathy, and portraiture reminds us of our collective story. Honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and his commitment to love and service by joining the Portrait Gallery and our partners for A Day of Community.

Designed for teens and young adults but welcome to all, this event reminds us to tend to ourselves and our communities. Engage in activities that encourage connection and care while learning from those who mobilize the power of community through highlights in the Portrait Gallery’s exhibitions.

The Portrait Gallery strives to provide programs that are accessible to all visitors. If you have questions about the accessibility of this program, or if you would like to request real-time captioning (CART), sign language interpretation, or any other accommodations, please contact npgeducation@si.edu. Two weeks' advance notice is appreciated for requesting accommodations.
