About this event

  • 2 hours

The Asbury Park Historical Society presents A Crane House of Verses, an evening celebrating poetry, essays and writers who articulate the feelings we cannot quite put into words. The evening will cover the works of many renowned favorites, including the venue’s eponymous Stephen Crane himself, Emily Dickinson, Roman poets Ovid and Catullus, Elizabethan poets, Romance poets and today's modern poems and poets.

The evening’s readers and speakers include many of Monmouth County’s premier history and poetry scholars. Maureen Nevin is an award-winning journalist and author. Curtis Walker is an artist, poet and photographer. Claire Garland is a historian with a passion for poetry and local Native American genealogy. Lorraine Stone is a renowned storyteller, poet and actress. Kerry Margaret Butch is a local activist, public policy worker and journalist. Eric Revilla is an avid vinyl record collector and lyrical poetry lover and frequent guest at The Stephen Crane House. Frank D’Alessandro is a former proprietor of The Stephen Crane House and a writer who has written two volumes of essays and poetry.
