Education and Job Skills Meet Opportunity

Overview
This community conversation invites residents and partners to come together and explore how education and job skills can create new opportunities. Together, we will look at how workforce development impacts families, neighborhoods, and long-term stability.

Held at Abundant Grace Fellowship Church, the event will bring together residents, subject matter experts, non-profit, faith, and government leaders to connect resources with the people who need them most.

Whether it is preparing for careers, building new skills, or strengthening connections to community resources, this space is designed for honest dialogue, collaboration, and action.

Why This Matters
Residents across Commission District 9 communities including Southwest Memphis, Westwood, West Junction and Walker Holmes, Mitchell, and Whitehaven continue to raise concerns about education access, workforce training, and pathways to employment. Families are seeking solutions that not only address immediate needs but also open doors to long-term stability and growth.

This event is a response to that call to listen, to learn, and to work together on expanding opportunity for everyone.

What to Expect
Expert Insights – Hear from panelists and workforce development professionals about challenges, opportunities, and promising practices for all ages.
Community Conversations – Share your personal experiences, reflect on barriers, and discuss ideas for creating stronger pathways to education and careers.
Resource Fair – Explore opportunities for job training, adult education, youth programs, mentorship, and more.
Action Planning – Collaborate on strategies to align education and workforce efforts and build momentum for change in District 9.

Who Should Attend?
This conversation is open to all District 9 residents and community stakeholders, including families, students, young adults, educators, church groups, workforce providers, employers, and neighborhood associations.
