A Beginners Guide to 16mm Filmmaking Workshop

By Long Beach Community Media Arts

Overview

Join us for a hands-on workshop where you'll learn the basics of 16mm filmmaking!

Using the 16mm Bolex camera, we’ll learn about film history, camera mechanics and analogue cinematography techniques and then put our new knowledge into practice as we do some filming of our own and possibly even some hand processing! We will shoot one roll together as a team, but everyone will have a chance to shoot:-)

This very low-key, DIY, hands-on workshop is perfect for filmmakers of all experience levels, but it will be very beginner friendly, and focuses heavily on working and learning together! WE BELIEVE ART FLOURISHES WHEN IT IS PRACTICED AS A DEMOCRATIC, COMMUNAL EXPERIENCE!

Space is limited and will fill up fast, so please let us know at least 24 hours in advance if you can’t make the class so we can release your space to another participant. See you there!
