? What kind of Tango do you teach?

We teach Argentine Tango - the kind danced socially at milongas (tango socials) around the world.
Our approach is inclusive - we don’t stick to one “style.”
You’ll learn to lead and follow comfortably in both close embrace and open movements that use a bit more space.
No stage or ballroom styles.

? What is Argentine Tango?

Argentine Tango is a social, improvisational dance that began in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
It’s about connection, communication, and feeling the music together.
Unlike ballroom tango, there’s no single “right” way to dance - every dancer develops their own voice and expression through the embrace.

? I’m new to Tango — where do I start?

Accepted Answer

Welcome! The best way to begin is with our Beginner Progressive Series, a step-by-step introduction to the foundations of tango.
If you can’t make the full series, private lessons are also a great option to start learning at your own pace.
Either way, you’ll be dancing before you know it!

? Do I need a partner to take your classes?

Accepted Answer

No partner needed! We do our best to keep classes balanced between leaders and followers, and we rotate partners throughout class.
Dancing with different people helps you learn faster, become more adaptable, and connect with the community — it’s part of the fun!

Question 5

? What should I wear?

Accepted Answer

Wear comfortable clothes that let you move easily.
Tight jeans or restrictive fabrics can get uncomfortable, but there’s no need to be formal either.
Think: dress pants and a nice shirt, or flowy skirts and dresses.
If you wear a short skirt or dress, leggings or shorts underneath are a good idea.

? What kind of shoes should I wear?

Accepted Answer

Choose shoes with smooth soles and low heels that make it easy to pivot.
Dance shoes (character, ballroom, or tango) are perfect, but sneakers with hard rubber soles like Converse, Puma, or Tom’s also work.
And if you’re brand new - socks are totally fine for your first class!

⏰ How early should I arrive?

Accepted Answer

Arrive about 10 minutes before class to park, change shoes, and settle in.
It’s nice to start relaxed and ready to dance right on time.

? Where can I park?

Accepted Answer

There’s plenty of safe street parking around the studio.
You can also park in the open lot across the street near Safeway and Living Space.
