The Stamford History Center will be hosting the 6th Annual of July Declaration of Independence Day Reading on the steps of Stamford’s oldest dwelling the Hoyt-Barnum House located on our campus at 1508 High Ridge Road in Stamford, CT adjacent to the old Martha Hoyt School.

Stamford History Center Board Member Rick Petersen is back dressed as General Putnam to kick-off the event at 10 am, Friday July 4th.

Judy Aronin returns as Elizabeth Cady-Stanton reading her famous speech from Seneca Falls. Marvin Pittman joins the cast again as Frederick Douglass reading his two speeches (one speech was delivered when Douglass visited Stamford The History Center has one of the original event tickets in their archives). Sophia’s Costumes and Gifts in Cos Cob is outfitting the team. PJ Kennedy of Hey Stamford! will be selling Stamford Merchandise. Tours of the Hoyt-Barnum house will be offered.

Yes! There is additional parking in the Scofield School lot. Do not park in the shopping center next door unless you are conducting business there! We want to respect our neighbors.
