Introduction
Interested in mastering the art of sourdough bread? Happy Oven Bake Shop is here to help! In this 1.5-hour hands-on class, we’ll cover the sourdough basics, including how to care for your starter, dough development techniques, folding, shaping, and fermentation timing. Perfect for beginners, this class is designed to demystify sourdough so you can enjoy fresh, bakery-quality bread at home.
You'll receive step-by-step instructions from an in-person instructor and all the tools you’ll need for class – just bring a smile (and maybe an apron). You’ll leave with the confidence to bake your own sourdough loaf from scratch and a starter to continue your bread journey at home!
About this Class
This class is for anyone curious about sourdough baking or wanting to refine their technique. Whether you’ve struggled with starters, wondering why your loaves are flat, or simply love the idea of fresh, homemade bread, this is the perfect opportunity to learn and have fun.
We’ll cover sourdough essentials like:
- How to care for and maintain a sourdough starter
- Mixing, gluten forming, and shaping techniques
- Tips for scoring and baking your bread
- Troubleshooting common issues
Each participant will leave with:
- Our gift of a sourdough starter in a wide mouth glass jar
- Literature on what is discussed in class for reference later
- A recipe guide with detailed instructions
- Confidence in your newfound sourdough skills!
There are two different ticket options!
Tier 1 ($65):
- 1.5 hours fo instruction
- hands on practice with the dough
- walk through of every step in the process
- sourdough starter in a jar as a gift and instruction of how to care for a starter
- lots of tips and tricks and troubleshooting advice
- equipment and terminology debunked
Tier 2 ($120):
- Everything in Tier 1
- A bake along a few weeks after the class where we will check in on zoom at certain points of the process to do the steps together. I will be performing the same steps as you so you can watch and I will remain available for answering questions and troubleshooting with you after each step. Approximately 10 quick zoom meetings over a day and the following morning. (Sourdough is a process haha).
- access to a class sourdough WhatsApp group for troubleshooting and sourdough questions for a time moving forward after the class. I will be available to answer questions as they arise in the process of making sourdough.
You will be able to add Tier 2 after the class if you feel the desire for $65. It is a $10 savings to do Tier 2 from the onset.
This class is on April 5th from 3 pm- 4:30 pm. Come solo, with a friend, or as a group – there’s room for up to 16 people. Whether you're a total beginner or a bread enthusiast, we’re excited to help you rise to the challenge!
The class will be held at Forever Fun in Clarence Center, NY located at 9490 Clarence Center Rd, Clarence Center, NY 14032. Nervous about parking? Don’t be! Parking is in a small lot behind the building or on the street around the shop.

Cancelation / Refund Policy:
Life happens! You can cancel up to 7 days before the class for a full refund. If you feel unwell or need to cancel closer to the date, we’re happy to offer class credit. For no-shows or last-minute cancellations, refunds or credits cannot be offered.
Important: If you purchased your ticket using a discount and are unable to attend, you may still receive class credit. However, please note that the difference between your discounted ticket price and the current full price of a class ticket will need to be paid when applying the credit to a future class.

You’ll learn everything you’ll need to know to bake your own sourdough boule in your own kitchen! This includes terms used in the sourdough sphere, how to care for your starter, mix and fold your dough, shape it for an optimal rise, and troubleshoot common issues.
Not at all! This class is beginner-friendly, and all materials are provided. Whether you’re starting from scratch or want to improve your technique, we’ve got you covered. I’ve taught self proclaimed “not bakers” who astonished their kids by now making sourdough bread regularly.
You’ll leave with your own sourdough starter, and a recipe guide packed with tips and tricks, easy equipment swaps to make it work in your kitchen and a loaf of sourdough prepared just for you.
Both options work! Whether you come alone or with friends, you’ll have a great time. We also are able to accommodate parties for just you and your friends upon request.
Just yourself and a good attitude! If you’d like, bring an apron to protect your clothes, and don’t forget your phone for photos.
This class is ideal for participants ages 14 and up. Please contact us before signing up if someone is under age 14.
We allow cancellations up to 7 days before the class for a full refund. After that, we can offer class credit for a future event.
