This one-day course 6-12: Visual Models and Core Strategies is designed to support middle and high school educators in effectively implementing the Common Core State Standards for Mathematics through the use of visual models, strategic thinking, and student-centered instruction. Teachers will explore core content areas including ratios and proportional relationships, expressions and equations, functions, geometry, and statistics, with a focus on building conceptual understanding alongside procedural fluency. Emphasis will be placed on mathematical modeling, the Standards for Mathematical Practice, and strategies for facilitating rich mathematical discussions. Through collaborative planning, analysis of student work and engagement with authentic tasks, participants will develop tools to enhance instruction, promote reasoning and problem-solving, and meeth the diverse needs of learners in grades 6-12.


Grade Level: 6-12

Course Dates: July 31, 2025

Workshop Times: 8:30 – 3:30PM CDT (lunch is not provided, participants will have a one hour break for lunch)

CANCELLATION POLICY: Cancellations made more than 180 days prior to this event will receive a full refund minus a 10% processing fee. Cancellations made between 180 and 30 days of the event will receive a 50% refund minus a 10% processing fee. No refunds will be issued for cancellations made within 30 days of the event.

The deadline to register is July 25, 2025
