5th Annual Student Oratory Competition

Overview

Join us for an inspiring evening in UVA's historic Rotunda Dome Rome featuring student finalists answering a pro-Democracy prompt.

This year, student finalists in both undergraduate and graduate divisions will deliver original speeches answering the prompt, "Describe an event from American history and explain how it illustrates a founding principle of our Declaration of Independence"

Two winners, one from each divison, will be selected by a bipartisan panel of judges comprised of former White House and Cabinet-level speechwriters and awarded $1000 each. Interim President Paul Mahoney will open the competition and annouce the winners.

This event is co-sponsored by Think Again and the College of Arts and Sciences and will be shared on video with thousands of alumni and parents worldwide through the UVA Office of Engagements.
