About this event

The 5th Annual Consulate’s Cup Sumo Tournament is held in honor of the Consul-General of Japan, Zentaro Naganuma. On November 8th, 2025, over 90 competitors from around the world will gather to compete in Japan’s national sport of sumo—right here in the United States.

This is the largest sumo event in the country following Team USA’s return from the 2024 World Sumo Championships in Thailand, and marks a major moment in the sport’s continued growth on American soil.

Come witness elite male and female athletes clash in the ring at this officially sanctioned tournament (#11609) under the International Federation of Sumo. You won’t want to miss it.
