Black In Biomed is a network of like-minded individuals seeking to raise aspirations and

change the narrative of Black students in Biomedical Science

Our Vision:

“Encourage, equip, and empower”

• Encourage young Black Biomedical Scientists to see themselves thriving in their careers within research/academia/industry
• Equip young Black Biomedical Scientists with the necessary skills and professional experiences to navigate tough spaces and prepare them for a successful career within Biomedical Science
• Empower the next generation of young Black Biomedical Scientists to not be intimidated about pursuing a career within Biomedical Science. They need to know that a career in Biomedical Science is for them if that’s what they want.

The day will consist of:

• Registration and Lunch
• Welcome speech by Founder
• Ice breaker
• Keynote speech by Dr. Donald Palmer
• Break
• Panel discussion - ‘Reframing the picture’
• Speed mentoring workshop
• Networking
