3D Design for 3D Printing
Event Information
About this Event
Your instructor will take you through key concepts of 3D printing and lead the class through the design process of creating a model and preparing it to print. We’ll talk about creating functional objects, creative objects, available materials, print reliability, and compare various printer models and features.
This class will be taught by AJ McGuire (artist, maker, teacher, professional person who fixes tech stuff)
Tech Requirements: a computer running an up-to-date version of Firefox or Chrome. A mouse is recommended.
This class will be taught online using Zoom video conferencing. For 3D modeling, we'll be using Tinkercad, a free browser-based software from Autodesk but other software will be discussed. No prior knowledge of 3D modeling or 3D printing is needed but a basic level of computer literacy (installing software, switching between programs/windows, finding downloaded files) is expected.
As with all NYC Resistor events, this class is 18+ and governed by our Code of Conduct. The Code of Conduct, as well as accessibility information, can be found at www.nycresistor.com/participate/. If you have any questions, please email classes@nycresistor.com.
