APIs are a game changer if you have access to developers.

But what if you don’t? How can you build on the information infrastructure of your partners or your colleagues if you don’t know how to code?

During our research on devportal maturity, we realized that there are some really exciting opportunities on the horizon beyond the low/no-code API movements. In this first segment I will talk about this opportunity.

Devportal microsites

API marketplaces are great to help developers find and/or discover APIs. But what if you want to do more than expose your APIs? How can you get a better alignment between your APIs and your digital business strategy?

In March Kristof gave a talk at a devportal meetup at Deutsche Bank in Frankfurt about the different types of devportals one can build. Explaining how we can go from a “Flea market” Spray and pray approach to a Devportal “Shopping mall or high street boutique” experience.

Prose like prose

If you manage your API specification in a code repository, it becomes easier to keep your documentation in sync with your code. But is docs like code really the best way to work with all your stakeholders?

In June, Tom Johnson from “I’d rather be writing” wrote a really intriguing article titled “Treat code like code, and prose like prose” in which he explained why he has stopped working in a “Docs like code” approach on some of his projects. In this talk Kristof will explain what he thinks that means for developer portals.
