2nd Annual B.A.M. Pre-Conference Institute (Wednesday, 12/3/25)
This three-part workshop, grounded in scholarly literature and real-world experience, explores the psychological trauma of microaggressions, how to reframe and navigate triggering interactions, and how to unpack and use one's privilege to disrupt macro-level oppression. Participants will engage in small and large group discussions, case analyses, and self-reflective identity mapping, all while cultivating tools to address marginalization from multiple roles: as targets, bystanders, and allies. In alignment with the 2nd Annual B.A.M. Conference theme, this session invites educators and professionals of color to take a pause from exhaustion, recognize the invisible emotional labor they endure, and activate practical, healing strategies rooted in affirmation, collective resistance, and joy.
