About this event

  • Event lasts 1 day 8 hours

Whether you're new to entrepreneurship, want to experience the highs, lows and pressure of developing a business idea or are exploring working in a startup environment, 2DAY VENTURE (2DV) welcomes all undergraduate and graduate students at Michigan State University to bring their business ideas—no matter how developed it is—and form teams to develop early-stage ideas in this fun, immersive experience.

2DV is not a hackathon or pitch competition. It's a 36-hour entrepreneurial workshop and experience for Spartans, regardless of their home college, major, or background, to explore turning an idea or innovation into reality in just two days.

Frequently asked questions

How does the Institute accommodate dietary needs when providing food at events?

The Institute offers vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free, and dairy-free options at all events. For other dietary needs, requests must be submitted at least one week in advance. We will make every effort to accommodate requests; however, adjustments are not guaranteed.

Is there a dress code for 2DV?

There is no formal dress code. We recommend comfortable clothing, as the 36-hour experience involves active collaboration and long working sessions. Teams may choose to coordinate attire for final presentations on Saturday evening.

Am I required to attend both days?

Yes. 2DV is a two-day immersive experience, and full participation is required. While overnight stay is not expected, attendees must be present throughout the event.

Can I be on a team with my friends or existing co-founders?

2DV is designed to help students build new connections and collaborate across diverse skill sets. While existing co-founders may attend together, additional teammates will likely be added to enhance collaboration. If you have co-founders attending, please contact eship@msu.edu in advance.

I already have a business plan. Can I bring that idea to 2DV?

2DV focuses on exploring early-stage ideas that are still evolving. If your concept already includes a full business plan, it may be too developed for this experience. We encourage you to consider our Venture Creation program for more advanced support.

What if I can no longer participate in 2DV?

If you're unable to attend, please cancel your registration in Eventbrite at least 7 days prior to the event. Refunds are not guaranteed after this deadline, and Eventbrite processing fees are nonrefundable.

How do I get my $10 deposit refunded?

The $10 deposit is fully refundable for students who actively participate throughout the event. Attendance at scheduled check-ins and engagement in team collaboration are required. Refunds will be processed within one week after the event concludes. Eventbrite processing fees are nonrefundable.

Do I need to be a business major to participate?

Not at all. 2DV is open to undergraduate and graduate students from all majors and colleges at MSU. Whether you're exploring entrepreneurship for the first time or looking to work in a startup environment, all Spartans are welcome.

How are 2DV teams formed?

Teams are formed by the Burgess Institute with consideration to students’ majors, experience, and submitted preferences. This ensures a balanced mix of skills and perspectives to support strong collaboration and idea development.
