Join us for the 25th Annual Striking a Balance Caregiver Conference—a one-day, in-person event hosted by AGE of Central Texas and the Area Agency on Aging of the Capital Area. Held at the Austin Public Library – Central Branch, this conference is designed to empower unpaid family caregivers with expert guidance, practical tools, and vital community support. ASL Interpretation is available upon request - please register by August 11 and indicate your request during registration.

Registration is FREE and includes:
✔️ A copy of The AARP Caregiver Answer Book by Dr. Barry Jacobs and Dr. Julia Mayer
✔️ Complimentary lunch
✔️ Access to all sessions and exhibits

✔️ Resource Fair – Connect with local organizations offering services and support.

✔️ Supportive Care Lounge – A safe, comfortable, supervised space for your loved one while you attend the conference. This FREE Respite Care is provided by AGE of Central Texas for pre-registered guests.

Conference sessions include:
🔹 Keynote Presentation – Dr. Barry Jacobs (The AARP Caregiver Answer Book, The Emotional Survival Guide for Caregivers, Meditations for Caregivers) and Dr. Julia Mayer share strategies for managing the emotional challenges of caregiving.

🔹 Affordable Care Options Session – Learn about cost-effective caregiving solutions, including respite care and other local supports.

Yes, you will need to register for the In-Person event being held on Saturday, August 16th at the Austin Public Library, Central Branch.

Will I need to print my ticket to attend the In-Person event being held on Saturday, August 16th?

No, you do not need to bring your printed ticket. We will check you in at the door using your name or email address.

Is there respite care available for my care receiver at the In-Person event?

Yes, there is respite care available at the In-Person event for pre-registered guests. When you register, you will be asked if you require Respite Care. If you indicate "Yes", you will be prompted to add your best contact information. We will contact you to register your care recipient.

I have dietary restrictions. What accommodations are available for lunch?

Vegetarian and gluten-free options are available for lunch. If you require other accommodations, please feel free to bring your lunch.

I require ASL Interpretation. Is it available?

ASL Interpretation is available upon request. There is a question at registration to indicate this.

I'd like to attend but cannot afford the ticket. Are there scholarships available?

We want everyone to have the opportunity to attend the Striking a Balance Caregiver Conference. A limited number of scholarships are available for those who may need financial assistance. If the $20 registration fee is a barrier, please email bhow@ageofcentraltx.org.
