ABOUT:

Invited speakers present a critical obstacle that needs collaboration and a near term solution: "Regarding building decarbonization and electrification, to achieve New York's Climate, Health and Equity goals, a critical obstacle to collectively overcome in 12 months is __________."

Participants vote on which speaker has articulated the most urgent obstacle. Invited participants are strategically placed into breakout rooms to compete on developing a 12 month solution to the selected obstacle. An AEG Task Force is formulated to carry out the selected 12 month solution.

Day 1 - April 19

Stakeholder Action Challenge: Electrifying Municipal Sanitation Fleets

Description: A workshop designed to support municipal fleet managers planning to electrify sanitation truck fleets. This workshop will facilitate alignment on 12 month pathways to improve understanding and collaboration among grid operators/utilities, vehicle manufactures, municipal fleet owners and EV charging solution providers. Seating limited to 48 leaders.

Speakers Include:

Objectives:

  1. Sanitation vehicle electrification requirements -- understanding and alignment on which MDHD vehicles and what's required for their electrification (highest priority vehicle types, overall power needs per vehicle, typical routes and available charging windows / charging power needs, etc.)
  2. OEM update and plans -- understanding of where each OEM is in their ability to meet these requirements, what's already available, what's on their roadmap, timeline to meeting the vehicle requirements
  3. Grid requirements -- what will be required of Utilities to support vehicle electrification requirements, what's already being done, gaps to address going forward.
  4. Charging infrastructure requirements -- what will be needed to support objective #1
