Overview

Master Gardener classes will assist you in your gardening with in-person lectures, Q&A sessions, and tips from experienced specialists.

Welcome to the 2026 Utah State University Extension Master Gardener Program in Washington County!

The Utah State University Master Gardener Program is designed to give students a research-based education in general horticulture. Attendance is required at all classes to obtain Master Gardener Certification.

2026 Schedule:

January 6th - February 25th: Every Tuesday and Wednesday from 6:00pm - 8:30pm

  • Fruit Trees
  • Trees and Shrubs
  • Vegetables
  • Weed Control
  • Lawn Care
  • Entomology and Pest Management
  • Bee Keeping
  • Irrigation
  • Landscape design


Field Trips:
As part of this program, students will have the opportunity to participate in hands-on field trips. These include a visit to a local orchard for a demonstration and hands on practice on pruing peach trees and a local tour of some of the horticultural businesses in the area.

Requirements:

In addition to the classwork, students who wish to become a Certified Master Gardener must provide a minimum of 40 hours of volunteer service. Volunteer opportunities will be identified, but students will be expected to make contacts and perform service on their own. In the past students have developed individual projects or worked at public and community gardens. More details on volunteering will be covered during the class.

**Volunteering is not mandatory, and you can still attend the class without becoming a certified Master Gardener if you are unable to volunteer**


This year our program can admit up to 30 persons


The cost for the course (a total of 16 Classes) is $200 per person.
