2026 New Volunteer Training - Daytime Session

Welcome to the first week of our 2026 New Volunteer Training event! Join us at the Tony and Ann Merritt Community Conference Center for an exciting opportunity to learn and grow as a volunteer. This in-person event will kick off a series of training sessions designed to equip you with the skills and knowledge needed to make a difference in our community. Get ready to meet fellow volunteers, engage in hands-on activities, and dive into our mission. We can't wait to see you there!

During this class you will learn the rules necessary to accurately prepare federal and state tax returns. You will gain hands-on experience preparing tax returns with the same software used during tax season, equipping you to handle a diverse range of real client scenarios. By the end of the week you will have completed an ethics exam, screener exam, and tax preparer exam. Successful completeiong of these exams will allow you to prepare VITA client returns.

Preparing for Class:

  1. Bring your laptop computer. This is only required for training, you will use a VITA provided computer during tax season. (If you need to borrow a laptop for training let us know at vita@azuracares.org)
  2. The conference center shares a parking lot with the Mesa United Way Building located at 137 E University Dr, Mesa. Parking is in the back of the building. Follow the VITA signs.
