Will I be able to sit with my child? Can my children sit together?

Parents cannot sit with their students. Students must sit with participants in their grade. They cannot sit with siblings in other grades.

2026 NAWIC Block Kids Event

Overview

Does your child have a creative mind for construction? Want them to learn more about real construction , designing, and building?

BLOCK KIDS - A free construction/engineering brick-building competition for students K-6th grade. Students compete for prize money, advancement to regionals/nationals, and engage in priceless learning experiences.

Last year's winner, Saahil Palil, went on to win Regionals and Nationals!! Congrats!!

The event is a national award-winning 33 year event hosted by NAWIC Atlanta through NAWIC Education Foundation that introduces students to the construction industry. With the help of sponsors and community partners, the program fosters creativity and promotes awareness of constrution careers.

Competition structure with cash prize winners - (7) local prize winners (1 for each grade.)
In addition one winner advances to regional competitions with a chance at nationals.
Prompted by their own imagination, participants use interlocking blocks to build a structure pertaining to the construciton industry. (No animals or people).
All materials are included and can be taken home after the competition.
Materials - 100 specific blocks (no specialty blocks) per student. Kids can also use additional items: a small rock, string, and foil.
Students have one hour to complete and cannot have any outside help during the competition. For this part, parents cannot sit with their student.
After the competition, students will build a real construction project using real tools courtesy of Home Depot. Parents are encouraged to work with their child.
Booths will be set up displaying construction industry samples showcasing different construction fields.
