What's the Housing Problem Solving (HPS) Services Training About?
This 3-workshop Housing Problem Solving Services training series is for direct services providers to facilitate empowering, client-centered conversations with persons experiencing housing crisis or homelessness to creatively identify and access possible resources, housing solutions without ongiong or long term need for system resources.
The HPS Training features presentations by guest speakers and knowledge area practitioners, as well as interactive sessions for service providers to build HPS skills including active listening, open-ended questions, strength-based dialogue and housing planning skills to help clients uncover potential solutions to their housing crises.
Who is the Housing Problem Solving Training For?
This 3-part HPS Training is for direct services providers, organizations , and community groups in the SF Bay Area who support individuals and households experiencing housing crisis or homelessness.
Organizations and groups may use the 'sponsorship' ticket option to pay for their staff or members to participate in the HPS training.
When is the Training ?
This HPS training series has 3 workshops, the dates are
- Tuesday, JAN 27 2025, 1-2:30 pm Pacific Time
- Tuesday, FEB 24 2025, 1-2:30 pm Pacific Time
- Tuesday, MAR 24 2025, 1-2:30 pm Pacific Time
Note that the scheduled dates for this training event are subject to change. In the event of any date changes, Social Impact Wheel will make every effort to provide reasonable advance notice to allow participants to reschedule accordingly.
What topics are covered in the HPS training?
Service Providers participating in this 3-Workshop training series:
- engage and share knowledge with other direct services delivery practioners
- apply training tools and skills to real-world cases during the workshops
- access new and updated HPS tools to support converstaions and services to participants receiving HPS services
- access to new tools and resources for persons receiving Housing Problem Services to support achieving their housing plan goals
- updated tools including HPS conversation guides, housing plan templates, and resource connection strategies
Participants who complete the 3-workshops receive a certificate of completion.
How Much Does the training Cost?
The cost for the HPS Training is (sliding scale)
- $250 for the 3-workshop training series
- $150 for a single session
- $60 with a scholarhsip
Organizations/Partcipants may also pay a non-refundable $50 deposit for each participant and then by installments to complete payments ($150 for 1 session or $250 for 3 sessions) by JAN 12, 2025.
Organizations sponsoring staff to attend this training may purchase multiple $150, $250 or Sponsorship tickets.

Proceeds from this HPS course for providers support building NH GUIDE app features in the Courses section that provide mini-courses with pointers and key information for participants about receiving services such as Housing Problem Solving HPS services to support achieving housing goals.
