2026 Generative AI in the CTE Classroom with Pre-Conference
Overview
Generative AI in the CTE Classroom is a hands-on conference for Career and Technical Education faculty and staff held at the Caraway Conference Center in Asheboro, NC from April 22–24, 2026. Participants will explore real, practical ways to use AI tools to support teaching, lesson design, feedback, and student success across CTE programs.
Attendees who choose the preconference option will arrive Wednesday evening for dinner and a Thursday morning workshop with Dr. Lane Freeman, focusing on the basics of generative AI, large language models, and clear, effective prompt writing. After lunch on Thursday and on Friday morning, faculty from across North Carolina will lead breakout sessions that showcase specific AI tools and real classroom use cases—what they did, how they did it, and the impact on students.
This event is funded by Perkins Leadership Grant funds. Lodging, breakfast, working lunches, and dinners at Caraway are covered for participants; colleges may use local Perkins funds to support travel. Participants can expect a supportive environment, time to network with colleagues, and concrete ideas they can take back to their own CTE courses.
