When and where are the tryouts for Checkmate 7on7?

Checkmate7on7s’ Last Chance Tryout is on December 23th, 2025 @ 6PM Location: Lauderhill Sports Park, 7500 W. Oakland Park Blvd., Lauderhill, FL 33319 (Note: If inclement weather affects the tryouts, updates will be provided via social media regarding rescheduling or postponing the event)

Who can attend the tryouts?

Our tryouts are open to all players, regardless of experience or position. Players should be ready for competitive drills and evaluations.

Is there a fee to attend the tryouts?

Yes, the tryout fee is $20. This fee helps cover the costs of organizing the event. Food and refreshments will be provided to all registered athletes.

Do I need to register in advance?

While walk-ins are welcome, we recommend pre-registering for the tryouts to ensure a smoother check-in process. You can register through the @Checkmate7on7 page, link is in the bio.

What should I bring to the tryouts?

Required Gear: Cleats, athletic wear, and any other gear you usually play in (gloves, mouthpiece, etc.). Quarterbacks (QBs): All quarterbacks must bring their own football for the tryouts. * Optional: Water bottle, towel, and sunscreen. We will setup a cooler with water.

What can I expect during the tryouts?

The tryouts will consist of drills to assess skills, speed, agility, and overall football IQ. Players will be evaluated individually and also participate in team-based exercises. Coaches will provide feedback and evaluate who is the best fit for the program.

What age group is eligible for the tryouts?

Checkmate 7on7 welcomes athletes from  ages 12 but no older than 18 as of January 1, 2026. There may be age-specific tournament teams that travels.

Will there be any follow-up after the tryouts?

After the tryouts, selected players will be contacted with details about the team. If you are not selected, feedback may be provided to help you improve for future tryouts.

What if I can’t attend the tryouts on December 7th?
