The Architect is directed by Ding Wenjian, who brings his architectural training into his cinematic language. The film follows a returning architect confronting urban redevelopment, exploring themes of memory, hometown identity, and disappearing cultural landscapes. It is a quiet, poetic reflection on what is lost when a city transforms—not only buildings, but human stories.

A Woman (directed by Wang Chao) is adapted from writer Zhang Xiuzhen’s semi-autobiographical novel Dream. The film portrays the struggles and resilience of a woman navigating complex family, class, and social structures. Wang Chao’s restrained yet powerful storytelling earned the film the Best Screenplay Award at the 70th San Sebastián International Film Festival.

The Lifter (by Lee You-Ning) spans three eras—1949, 1999, and 2009—using a traditional dough starter (“lifter”) as a metaphor for lineage, family memory, and heritage. Through Lee’s warm and delicate storytelling, the film reveals six decades of emotional ties and cultural shifts within a Chinese family.
