About this event

  • Event lasts 1 day 2 hours

This is a group bikepacking trip starting and ending in Boulder, CO!

Join Treehouse Cyclery and thousands of adventurous spirits around the world, as we sleep under the starts with our bikes and celebrate the 11th annnual Swift Campout.

The mixed-terrain route takes you through downtown Boulder, up Boulder Canyon, and up up up Four Mile Canyon to Switzlerland Trail. We'll spend the night camping near Mount Alto Picnic Area then wake up bright and early to grab a bite to eat in Gold Hill. After that, we'll bike down Sunshine Canyon to get back to town and end right where we started. The route is a mix of bike path, paved roads, jeep roads, and gravel. The first day will be a steady climb up to camp abd the second day will be a long descent back into town.

There will be multiple pace groups and re-group points. This is a no-drop ride.

NOTE: This is not a beginner bikepacking trip due to the large amount of climbing and technical terrain! If you want to join but don't like this route, you're welcome to drive up and camp, or ride a route that feels better for you.

Difficulty: Moderate -- for people comfortable with sustained climbing, technical/chunky trail, and long descents.

Distance/Elevation: 37.7 miles | +3,914 ft roundtrip

Average Pace: 8-10mph

Route: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/50048802

Appropriate Bike: Any gravel bike, rigid mtb, or ATB that can carry all of your gear. We suggest 42mm tires (at minimum) to be the most comfortable riding on Switzerland Trail.

Rider Expectations:

  • Bring warm layers! We will be riding to and camping close to 9,000ft. Temperatures will vary.
  • Ride leaves promptly at 1:00pm. Please show up early and ready to go!
  • The route is varied: be prepared for steady climbing, some technical terrain on an unmaintained forest road, several moderate/steep descents, and a mix of road/gravel.
  • Riders are responsible for providing their own shelter, food, and supplies
  • Tool kits encouraged
  • Helmets required
