The 2025 South Dakota Soil Health School will be held Sept. 3-5 at the Crossroads Hotel and Huron Events Center and the Dale Demonstration Farm near Huron, SD. This school is designed for agricultural producers as well as anyone with an interest in learning how to manage soils for resiliency and profit. The agenda will feature classroom style presentations from producers and technical experts from across the state and region, as well as hands-on experiences in the field. Area producers will also share their challenges and successes with various methods for improving soil health. The class size ranges from 30-40 people.

The South Dakota Soil Health Coalition is a producer led, non-profit, membership organization that was created in the spring of 2015. The Coalition is governed by a nine-member board of farmers and ranchers from across the state and includes several staff members. Staff and board members strive to carry out the Coalition’s mission to “Promote Improved Soil Health” through education and research. Major projects and membership benefits include: field walks and workshops, annual Soil Health School, mentoring network, bi-monthly newsletter, informational videos, and the distribution of soil health education kits to school groups.
