Is the event accessible for those with limited mobility?

Accepted Answer

Many guests with limited mobility have enjoyed our firefly tours, including those using wheel chairs and motorized scooters. There are no stairs to navigate, and the tour leads over a flat boardwalk and then paved pathways with a short optional walk into a grassy area.

What is the best time to see the fireflies?

Accepted Answer

The nightly peak is usually between 9:00 and 10:00, so those are the prime tour times.

Question 3

Will the event be cancelled if it rains?

Accepted Answer

The event will only be cancelled in the case of lightning. If heavy rain or lightning is forecast on the night of your tour, we will send an email by 7:00pm to let you know if the tour will be cancelled.

Can I change my tour time or tour day?

Accepted Answer

As long as tickets are available for the new tour date and time that you want, you can request a refund for your original tickets and purchase tickets for the new date and time. However, once tickets are sold out for tour, the tour is full!

Do children 2 and under need a ticket?

Accepted Answer

No, children 2 and under do not need a ticket.

How can I learn more about fireflies?

Accepted Answer

We recommend Lynn Frierson Faust's field guide, "Fireflies, Glow-worms, and Lightning Bugs." It's a good mix of technical information, interesting facts, and clear guidance on how to identify various firefly species.

Question 7

How are the firefly numbers looking in 2025?

Accepted Answer

It's hard to predict how well the firefly population will recover this year, but we have seen some good signs so far. Other firefly species are showing greater numbers than we saw in 2024. This give us hope for our snappy sync fireflies!
