What is the SCRIE/DRIE Program?

The Rent Freeze Program, also known as SCRIE (Senior Citizen Rent Increase Exemption) or DRIE (Disability Rent Increase Exemption), helps eligible residents keep their housing affordable by freezing their rent.

Who qualifies for these programs?

Accepted Answer

SCRIE: You must be age 62 or older and have an annual income of $50,000 or less.

DRIE: You must be age 18 or older, receive disability benefits (SSI, SSDI, etc.), and have an annual income of $50,000 or less.

Dates: Monday, October 6 & Tuesday, October 7
Time: 10:00 am – 3:00 pm
Location: Community Center (@449 East 14th Street)

Do I need to register in advance?

No. Walk-ins are welcome. However, you can sign up in advance at the Community Center or by emailing goodneighbor@stuytown.com. Sign-up sheets will also be available on the day of the event.

What should I bring with me?

Government-issued photo ID (driver’s license, IDNYC, passport, etc.)

2024 tax return or proof of income

SSI/SSDI paperwork (if applicable)

Last 2 lease renewals (we can print these for you if needed)

I can’t attend. Can I still get help?

Accepted Answer
