If you are inspired to make a difference in the future of Pacific salmon through education and recovery, this multi-day training is for you! Come learn about Pacific salmon species from experts, visit salmon spawning habitat in local streams and have the opportunity to share what you have learned with others.
Schedule
October 21, 22, 23 from 9:30am to 4:00pm daily - Each training day is packed with information and experiences, so please plan to participate in all sessions.
Day 1 - 10/21: Classroom/lab - north Kitsap county location TBD
Day 2 - 10/22: Kitsap Public Works Annex and Otto Jarstad Park/Gorst Creek
Day 3 - 10/23: Excursions to several stream locations in central Kitsap County
This popular training culminates with the opportunity to become a docent at the annual Kitsap Salmon Tours event on November 1st. Visit salmon viewing sites on multiple Saturdays throughout November, giving you the opportunity to share what you’ve learned with the public.
Trainees who sign up to participate in a 2-hour docent shift on November 1st will receive a FREE 70-page waterproof Kitsap Salmon Field Guide, available only to Kitsap Salmon Docents.
Space is limited and this training fills up fast. Registration deadline is October 10th. Full refunds may be administered through September 30th, 2025, after which participants will not be refunded. Scholarships are available for qualifying applicants.
