2025 Online First-Time Homebuyer Workshop (HUD-Approved)
Buying your first home can feel overwhelming. You do not have to figure it out alone.
San Francisco Housing Development Corporation (SFHDC) invites you to our online, HUD-approved First-Time Homebuyer Workshop. This 6-hour interactive class is your first step toward confident, informed homeownership.
When you register you can choose from these remaining 2025 dates:
- Saturday, November 22, 2025 – 10:30 AM to 5:00 PM (online)
- Saturday, December 13, 2025 – 10:30 AM to 5:00 PM (online)
This is a virtual workshop on Zoom, not an in-person class.
What you will learn
In this workshop, we break the process down in plain language and answer real questions from real people. Topics include:
- Are you ready to buy?
Budgeting, credit, debt, and what “mortgage-ready” actually means. - Understanding your credit and finances
How credit scores work. How to improve your score and reduce debt. How much house you can realistically afford. - The homebuying process from start to finish
Getting pre-approved. Working with real estate agents and lenders. Shopping for a home. Making an offer. Closing on your home. - Loans, lending, and mortgages
FHA, conventional, and other loan types. Interest rates, down payments, and monthly payments explained. - Down payment and closing cost assistance programs
Overview of local and regional programs that may help first-time homebuyers bridge the gap. - How to be a successful, “default-resistant” homeowner
Planning for maintenance, property taxes, and staying financially stable after you get the keys.
Why this workshop matters
- Many lenders, city programs, and down payment assistance programs require a HUD-approved 8-hour or 6-hour homebuyer education certificate.
- Completing this workshop is often the first required step to access those opportunities.
- You will leave with a clear picture of your next steps and how to move forward with confidence.
Participants who attend the full session and complete all required activities will receive a certificate of completion via email after the workshop.
Take control of your financial future—SFHDC is here to help!
