• A $100 fee includes lodging and meals. If must cancel for any reason, the $100 fee will only be returned if notified on or before May 24, 2025. (firm)

• IL State Board of Education approves Professional Development Hours throughout the state.

• The IPRB Summer Teacher Program is limited to a one time attendance

• The program is available only to Illinois teachers

• Must be teaching math or science in a grades 3-12

• You will take home hands-on curriculum which includes grade specific lesson plans and a lab/classroom activity kit at no extra cost

• Learn from Dr. David Malone of Illinois State University and petroleum professionals who work in the Illinois Basin

Tuesday, June 24 - Teachers will participate in numerous learning stations and presentations covering the Illinois oil and natural gas industry in general, petroleum geology, prospecting, legal aspects of the industry, drilling and producing in Illinois, hydraulic fracturing, geophysical logging, industry regulation, rock cutting evaluation, well stimulation, seismic activity, permeability and emergency spill response.

Wednesday, June 26 - Teachers will participate in math and science professional development workshops covering high school/middle school core energy math, high school core energy science, middle school petro science, and elementary petro science(with a common core math component).

Thursday, June 27 -Teachers will travel by charter bus to tour various oil and gas facilities.

Friday, June 28 - Guest speakers will discuss a variety of topics, including careers in geology, geologist ideas for the classroom and Illinois oil well record keeping. Teachers will use knowledge gained throughout the week to participate in fun learning activities. The Summer Program will dismiss around 3 p.m.
