Are you looking for opportunities to go canoeing this summer? Join Rural Action for an afternoon of paddling on the Hocking River! This 6-mile canoe float and paddle will take place on Saturday, June 21 from 11 a.m.–3 p.m. in Nelsonville.
Lunch will be provided and canoes will also be available, but feel free to bring your own canoe or kayak. Rural Action staff and AmeriCorps members will guide participants in some local water quality education and history as we canoe along the river and enjoy the sights and sounds of nature.
Registration is required by Wednesday, June 18. Event details and itinerary email will be sent with registration.
Meet at the Hocking Parkway canoe put-in (on Hocking Parkway at the Bridge over the Hocking River in Nelsonville, look for event signs). The float will end at Fast Traxx Motoplex off of U.S. Route 33. Shuttle back to Hocking Parkway will be provided.
We will be canoeing on open water. Experience is recommended. The watercrafts have a maximum load capacity; if you have special requirements, please contact bellakirchner@ruralaction.org for accommodations or questions.
Your generous donations help Rural Action continue programming, education, and outreach in our region. The suggested donation for this event is $20 per person.
