About this event
City Center Security & City Center Management are hosting a tower climb in honor of those who lost their lives on September 11, 2001.
During the City Center climb, participants will climb or walk in the stairwells of the Bank of America Tower. Here they will climb to level 30 three times, then on the fourth time up they will stop on level 20, which following this plan is the equivalent of the 110 stories of the World Trade Center. There will be various tributes to memorialize the fallen first responders including a local Pipes & Drum Band initiating the opening ceremony, a dedicated moment of silence recognizing the timeline that unfolded on September 11, 2001, and each of today’s heroes – our local first responders – will carry a name and photo of a hero who responded to the World Trade Centers.
Please note: This event is open to First Responders only (Fire/Police/EMS, etc.).
Additional Event Details:
There will be an opening ceremony beginning at 8:15 am.
Please arrive a minimum of 30 minutes prior to allow time to check in and participate in the ceremony prior to the climb.
Registration will open at 6:30 am at the base of the Bank of America Tower.
GROUP PHOTO: will be taken under the US Flag hung by the two FWFD ladder trucks at 8:00 sharp. An annoucement will be made by the event MC to help gather everyone together for the photo.
NOTE: Participants will be divided into two groups - North and South - as this will indicate which stairway each participant will climb. The lanyards worn will also indicate which stairway you're assigned to. Volunteers will be available to assist with questions about the climb.

First, please remember that this is a memorial event and personal challenge, and not a fitness competition. Please be respectful to everyone around you and be aware of your surroundings as you progress. The general rule is that slower climbers stay to the right, and faster climbers stay to the left.
All participants will receive a swag bag with a commemorative coin, t-shirt, and an event lanyard with the name and image of one of the fallen first responders on September 11, 2001, that you will be climbing in honor of during this event.
Anyone who needs a break is welcome to take a seat or lie down in designated rest areas. There will be a few rest floors throughout the climb. At each rest floor there will be space to rest, get water, use the restroom and/or ask for further assistance.

Children are welcome to watch with their guardians as there will be a designated area for spectators on Commerce Street with a view of the doors the climbers will exit before beginning their climb again in the stairwells.
Quiet children’s activities are available at street level. We would like to maintain the memorial aspect of the climb but understand that children need something to do to help pass the time. Activities include: visiting the Fire Safety House or CRT dogs, play with a large block set or cornhole.
Seating is available on Commerce Street, but you are welcome to bring your own folding/bag chairs too. There is a large LED screen there to watch your loved ones as they climb in the stairwells and/or stop on the rest floors.
Comfortable clothing, running shoes/sneakers, or first responders are encouraged to wear their full gear usually worn when responding to an emergency. We will provide water during the event, but please hydrate the day before!
Climbing times will range based on fitness level. We estimate it could take anywhere from 30 minutes to 2+ hours to complete.
Absolutely. We love to have participants wearing their full tactical or bunker gear during the event. It serves as a visual reminder of what our fallen Heroes went through that day, and of what our first responders and current Heroes are willing to do for us now.
We will refund the registration costs on a case-by-case basis.
Restrooms will be available for first responders at each stopping point from the street level to level 30. Spectators may use a luxury restroom trailer located on 2nd Street.
