What if we are not available on the date of validation?

There are a couple of options: You need to contact the Bastrop County Extension Office at 512-581-7186 or MLMickelson@ag.tamu.edu by 10/25 so that the committee can meet to make arrangements. If you can send your child & animal with another adult, there is a waiver you can sign to validate them.

Is this the only date to validate swine for the upcoming year?

Yes, this will be the FINAL opportunity to validate hogs for the current major show season.

Do I have to purchase major validation tags?

Accepted Answer

You need to only if you want to show at the major shows (HOT, State Fair, Fort Worth, San Angelo, San Antonio, Houston, Rodeo Austin, etc.) You do NOT need to if you ONLY want to show at Bastrop Area Livestock Show, Bastrop County Jr Livestock Show (Elgin), or Smithville Livestock Show.
