Welcome to the 2024 Electronic Structure Workshop

The 36th Workshop on Recent Developments in Electronic Structure Methods will be held between June 2 - 5, 2024 at Boston University

The annual Workshop on Recent Developments in Electronic Structure Theory was initiated in 1989 by David M. Ceperley and Richard M. Martin of the Physics Department at the University of Illinois to serve as an essential forum for exchanging ideas between beginners and experienced researchers in the field of first-principles simulations of materials and their properties. The invited talks and contributed posters presented at the Workshops describe new methods for computing previously inaccessible properties and emphasize new approaches to computational efficiency and accuracy. The 2024 Annual Workshop on Recent Developments in Electronic Structure Theory (ES24) will be coming to Boston University (BU) for the first time.

Registration Dates & Fees:

Early Workshop Registration (until April 22, 2024): $230

Workshop Registration (after April 22, 2024): $300

Onsite Registration: $350

Boston University Student Registration: Free

Coffee breaks, evening receptions, and the Workshop Banquet are included in the Workshop registration fee.

Cancellation & Refund Policy:

Until May 4: Full refund with a $30 fee

Beginning May 5: No refunds will be processed

On-campus Housing Accommodations

On-campus housing accommodations will be available at 10 Buick Street at a rate of $107.30 per person per night. Find more information and reserve on-campus housing accommodations here.

Parking

Limited on-campus parking is available for commuting conference attendees. Daily parking passes are $17 per day. Each pass is valid for one vehicle for one day. Lot location, instructions, and a QR code pass will be emailed prior to the conference. Daily parking passes are not valid for overnight parking. Parking passes are non-refundable and must be requested in advance. Contact confreg@bu.edu to request daily parking passes.

Travel and Lodging Support

We are committed to having a diverse and broad participation in the workshop, and travel and lodging support will be available to help enable participation, pending conference sponsorship from the Department of Energy and/or National Science Foundation — please request this in the registration form. In the form, please indicate what your estimated travel cost would be and describe your need for this support. All responses will be kept confidential. Preference will be given to presenters and underrepresented minorities in STEM as defined by the National Science Foundation. Caregiving support is also available.

Note: travel and lodging support can only be provided to speakers and poster presenters.
