Submissions Round: closes at 11:59 PM, 02/03

Draft (if necessary): 02/06-02/07 (Draft will only be necessary if we receive more than 16 submissions by 02/03.)

Competition Dates:

• First Round, 02/16
• Quarter-Finals, 02/17
• Semi-Finals, 02/18
• Final, 02/19

Champion receives: up to $1,000 dollar, and clinches #2 playoff berth.

HOW DOES SvS WORK:

The Song vs Song Series is, literally, song versus song. Genre is not a factor, it's who has the best song. Players compete in tournament-style games. The regular season games and the playoff game are 100% virtual, meaning, all matches will be listed on our website where the public can listen and then vote. Match winners are decided by who scores the overall most points on the judges' scorecards. However, in the event of a tie, the votes will be factored into the scores as a tiebreaker.

The winner of each game clinches a playoff berth, in which, the players that place in the top four of the playoff game clinches a SUPER MIC berth.

In the SUPER MIC, the 4 players will compete head-to-head live on-stage for the championship while being scored on both their songs and performances.

The champion receives the SvS championship belt, $5,000 dollars, and the #1 SvS national ranking.

DRAFT PROCESS:

Each game is limited to 16 players. If in the event we receive more than 16 submissions for any game by the deadline (maximum 200), a draft will need to be conducted to select the 16. Should we receive 16 or fewer submissions (minimum of 6), no draft will be necessary, and that game will run as normally scheduled with those players.

Our drafts may be conducted either live or pre-recorded by either one or multiple podcasts (depending on the number of submissions). During the draft, all songs will be reviewed live, analyzed, and voted on by a panel of 3-judges. All submissions will be notified if a draft is warranted or not, and will be provided details on the draft.

PAYOUT PROCESS:

Payouts are determined by the number of submissions received at the close of submissions. The minimum payout per game is $100 dollars, and the maximum payout is $1,000 dollars. If in the event we receive $10K or more in revenue by the closing of submissions, all 16 players shall receive a payout based on where they place in that game. A payout scale will be provided to the players prior to the beginning of the game.

SPOTIFY/APPLE MUSIC:

Songs must be listed on either Spotify or Apple Music, this is non-negotiable. All songs are expected to be commercially ready to be released to radio, meaning, songs are radio-edited, mixed, and mastered. There will be major label A&Rs, radio DJs, and other industry professionals using this platform to potentially discover new music, it's advised that songs are prepared holistically should a business opportunity come about. Songs that are not radio-edited will be automatically disqualified. (No refund will be issued)

REGULAR SEASON/PLAYOFF/SvS SUPER MIC:

The SvS regular season is made up of 10 virtual games (Jan - July). Each game will consist of 16 songs competing in a tournament-style bracket. Songs are scored by a 3-judge system. All matches will be exclusively listed on our website where the public may listen by clicking on each player's Spotify or Apple Music song display and then vote. Votes, however, will only be factored in should there be a tie on the judges' scores. Game winners clinch a playoff berth.

Our playoffs, in August, is a virtual game in which the 10 qualified players will compete (with different songs) for the right to clinch a SUPER MIC berth.

The players that place in the top four clinches a SUPER MIC berth, which is our national championship game.

SvS SUPER MIC, also in August, is a live game. So, players that do not live within 3-hrs driving distance of Newport News, VA. will be provided with all-expense travel courtesy of MSL. In the SUPER MIC, players are scored on songs and performances by a 4-judge system.

The winner of the SUPER MIC receives the SvS championship belt, $5,000 dollars, and the #1 SvS national ranking.

B MENACE, Suffolk, VA. won the 2022 7-Cities Song vs Song Series. He initially won game 2 to clinch the 2nd seed berth in the playoffs, and on Oct 29th at Rough House Boxing & Fitness Center, he defeated Ruler Rone of Virginia Beach, VA in the Semi-Finals and defeated Washko of Hampton, VA in the championship match to capture the title.

B Menace received the SvS Championship belt and performed live on the Hampton Roads Show to commemorate his champion win.
