Is the CISSP certification right for me?

It is highly regarded by industry and governmental organizations, often listed as a job requirement. CISSPs are technical and non-technical. We are lawyers, IT pros, managers, software developers, risk professionals, sales professionals, etc...

What if I don't have work experience?

Accepted Answer

The CISSP certification requires five years of work experience across at least two of the eight knowledge domains. You can pass the CISSP exam, become an "Associate of ISC2" until meeting the experience requirement.

What is the weekly agenda?

An overall agenda will be sent in the first week of October and updates sent on the Friday before each session. We don't typically cover the CBK domains in order. Sometimes instructors need to attend only on specific weekends.

Will sessions be recorded?

Accepted Answer

We will not record the sessions, and we ask you not to record them either. There are complex issues of privacy and consent involved with recording this event. Instructors, guest speakers, and other attendees most often do not like the idea that they end up in publicly posted videos.

How do I start preparing?

Go to https://www.isc2.org/certifications/cissp and read the "CISSP Exam Outline" and "Ultimate Guide." We recommend you purchase the "Certified Information Systems Security Professional Official Study Guide & Practice Tests Bundle 3rd Edition."

Are there other prep resources I should get now?

There are lots of self-paced courses and study tools. We suggest waiting until after the bootcamp has ended before buying additional apps, books, or on-demand training. We'll discuss and recommend test preparation resources during the bootcamp.

Question 7

How much does it cost?

The four week program will be $100 for ISC2 Seattle, ISSA Puget Sound, and WiCyS Western Washington members. It is $200 for non-members. Parking is ~$7/day. Remote attendance is "donation." Donations and ticket fees help us provide these events, support the local security chapters.
