About this event

We’ll look at the legislative, regulatory and legal challenges facing online learners and their families and discuss ways we can work together to make things better for our families.

  • Why is my child specifically prohibited from participating in extra curricular athletic activities sponsored by their ‘home’ districts?
  • Why does my online learner have to travel, sometimes great distances, to participate in the state’s Forward Exam?
  • Why does my child’s school receive less funding for my student than other schools receive for theirs?
  • How can I advocate for my child in a way that will truly make a difference?

Frequently asked questions

Who are we?

Created and led by parent volunteers, this coalition was formed to protect our educational choices and make sure parents’ and families’ voices are heard in the Capitol and around the state.

What do we do?

We promote positive stories about online learning in newspapers, on talk radio and TV news. We prepare for additional legal maneuvers that may harm us. We coordinate with allies in the education reform movement to help empower parents with additional options.

What's the purpose of Capitol Day 2023?

Capitol Day provides Coalition members with tremendous opportunities. The day is equal parts networking, workshops and pep rally. It's not only our largest in-person show of force of the year, it's also a chance for students to meet some of their classmates and their peers in other schools.

Is transportation or parking provided?

No. Although there are public ramps within walking distance of the hotel. Moreover, the first 30 families to register can pick up a $25 gas card to help defray the cost of traveling to this event.
