Event description
Join us to learn and discuss collaborative solutions for ending hunger and food insecurity in Iowa.

About this Event

This year’s Iowa Hunger Summit will convene an array of representatives from various sectors to discuss hunger and food insecurity in our communities to provide attendees with tangible resources to begin or continue their engagement in ending hunger and food insecurity.

The Summit will feature conversations on the importance of racial equity within our food system and address the effects and long-term outcomes of COVID-19 on vulnerable and under-resourced populations. Sessions will highlight a compilation of resources and initiatives that comprehensively support increased food security in our communities. Attendees will gain a greater understanding of the challenges and barriers Iowans face, and receive tools to implement long-lasting change.

With the transition to a new format, we look forward to broadening our network and increase participants’ collaboration. The virtual Summit will offer the opportunity to engage in dialogue throughout the morning plenary sessions, with interactive breakout sessions organized by local stakeholders each afternoon.

THE WORLD FOOD PRIZE FOUNDATION established the Iowa Hunger Summit as a means to celebrate Iowa's great successes in fighting hunger and poverty and to unite in further action against both.

The Iowa Hunger Summit is a grassroots event, free and open to the public, which gathers Iowa citizens fighting hunger for 3 days of panels, keynote speakers and breakout sessions.

First held in 2007, the Iowa Hunger Summit seeks to gather leaders from across Iowa representing community organizations, business and industry, state and local government, social agencies, churches and religious communities, schools and universities, and other groups that lead or participate in projects to confront hunger.

The specific goals of the Iowa Hunger Summit are to: celebrate the many outstanding efforts of Iowans toward ensuring adequate food for all; encourage Iowans to continue and expand these efforts; and increase statewide awareness of hunger, poverty, and related issues.
